100% FDI is allowed in Mining Sector& the exploration of metal & non-metal ores under the automatic route.

India is the 3rd largest producer of coal^. Coal production in the country stood at 729.10 million tonnes (MT) in FY20 and reached 55.42 MT in FY21 (till April 2020).

During April 2000–March 2020, Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) in mining industries stood at US$ 2731.07 million & export rate stood @US$7.96bn

National Mineral Policy 2019 was launched for transparency, better regulation and enforcement and balanced socio-economic growth of the sector.

With the launch of the National Mineral Policy in 2019, more and more foreign investors are lining up. Moreover, the mining ores in India, especially iron ores are looked up to, as a backup by countries like China and South Korea. Moreover, mining is a major sector in India and is one of the backbones of economic activities. Apart from steel, iron, and coal, other minerals will witness a double-digit growth in the coming years. “World Media Network” is the preferred mode for press releases, including small businesses the world over. They can handle large amounts of facts, data, and has a reach on over 50 countries. Any kind of developmental news thrives on distribution channels. The media will assist the business to reach Google, CNN, and the New York Times.

India is estimated to have coal reserves of up to 300 billion tonne; the country produced 730 million tonne of coal in 2018-19: 607 million tonne by CIL, 64 million tonne by Singareni Collieries and the balance by captive coal producers. The country has set a target to increase coal production to 1,500 million tonne by FY24.

Before the August 2019 Cabinet decision, 100% FDI via the automatic route was allowed in coal and lignite mining for captive consumption by power, steel and cement units. Also, 100% FDI was allowed via the automatic route for the setting up of coal washeries, but the FDI firms could sell washed coal only to those units that supply raw coal for processing, and not in the open market. These restrictions had practically prevented FDI from flowing in. Currently, 100% FDI is allowed in not only mining for sale in the open market, apart form in ‘associated infrastructure’ like washeries, crushing, coal handling and separation.
