India Working On Its Largest Renewable Expansion Plan

Introduction & Snapshots

India has ranked at the fourth position in the renewable energy market, as of 2019. The government has set ambitious plans for the country and targets 450 GW of renewable power by the year 2030.

This is till date, the largest expansion plan in the world in terms of renewable energy. A per the Electricity Act, 2003, India is allowing 100 % FDI. India’s renewable energy sector will become the prime space for investments amounting to $10 billion. The government is drawing big investments in wind and solar projects. India’s achievement in the renewable energy sector is gaining support from the World Media, in terms of propagation. India’s future challenge to reach its target is balanced by the world’s need by the year 2035. One of the main challenges appears to be energy storage. Thus, India is looking forward to various technologies from abroad.
